Community Connections Schedule
Saturday, September 23, 2017 - Pop-Up Concert Series in Various Carnegie Library Neighborhood Branches
This performance event is a collaboration between TRYPO/YC2 and the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh in celebration of Radical Days! All students enrolled in the September Session will be participating in this community concert event. Rehearsals are scheduled for September 9, 16, and the day of the performance - see the September Session calendar for more details.
October/November 2017 - Date/Time TBA - Halloween-Theme Community Engagement Concert
Students are invited to a group chamber night to prepare some spooky classical favorites in preparation for a fall community performance. Music may include:
- Marche Funèbre from Piano Sonata No. 2 by Chopin
- In the Hall of the Mountain King by Gounod
- The Old Castle from Pictures at an Exhibition by Moussorgsky
- Danse Macabre by Saint-Saëns
Sunday, December 3, 2017 - 6:00pm - Holiday Play Along in Carnegie Music Hall
Community Connections students will play holiday favorites, along with any members of the audience wishing to dust off their instrument and bring it to the concert and join in the fun! Rusty notes from Grandma or Aunt Sally don't matter when we are all having fun and celebrating the season together! Then stay to hear TRYPO's Symphonette and YPO concerts beginning at 7:00pm.
December 2017 - Date/Time TBA - Holiday-Theme Music Performance
Students will prepare holiday-theme music in preparation for a performance of Christmas and Chanukah favorites. Location and community partners TBA.
Monday, January 16, 2018 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration - Music for Peace
All schools are off on Monday, January 16, so it's a perfect day to gather, rehearse some music designed to foster peace in the world - then we'll all head off the same day to perform out in the community.
Spring 2018 - (Tentative) Marches and Military Music for Veterans
A large number of our city's most fragile population are veterans of the armed services. Students will meet to rehearse military-themed repertoire then go out and perform at community programs which serve veterans and others in need of a boost of joy and hope.
Your ideas welcome!
We welcome suggestions of community partners who can provide an audience which would be appreciative of a live music performance. Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 412-391-0185.
